Florida reaches Super Regional after handling Mercer

The Florida offense came to play in the Gainesville Regional. The Gators beat Mercer 8-0 in five innings on Sunday to advance to another Super Regional. Florida scored 30 runs in three games this weekend.
Taylor Shumaker, who has been hot all weekend, had a first-inning single and scored on a fielder’s choice. After a pair of walks in the second, Jocelyn Erickson hit a two-out, two-run double to push the lead to three.
A Korbe Otis double followed by a Kenleigh Cahalan single brought in another run in the third. Ava Brown had the knockout punch. She hit a three-run home run, her 11th of the season and sixth in her last 10 games.

Kendra Falby led off the fifth with a double. She’d score on a Reagan Walsh sacrifice fly in the fifth to put the run-rule into effect.
Keagan Rothrock had a bounce-back performance. She threw 4.1 scoreless innings, allowing one hit. Rothrock also struck out six batters without yielding a walk. Olivia Miller recorded the final two outs for the Gators.
Florida will host either Duke or Georgia, depending on which program wins the Durham Regional.
