Texas Tech clinches first-ever Super Regional appearance

NiJaree Canady is headed to her third-straight Super Regional, but the first for the Texas Tech program. The Red Raiders beat Mississippi State 9-6 on Sunday.
The Red Raiders supplied their superstar with a five-run lead; however, the Bulldogs battled. Canady, who was battling a blister, clearly didn’t have her typical stuff. Mississippi State responded in the third with three runs behind RBIs from Sierra Sacco and Morgan Stiles.
Texas Tech’s offense was relentless. Hailey Toney led off the fourth with a solo shot. They added another run via a sacrifice fly in the fifth.
Mississippi State answered with three more as Jessie Blaine and Ella Wesolowski brought their team within one.

However, once again, Toney hit a solo home run in response. Lauren Allred found a gap for a double to score Mihyia Davis.
After a leadoff walk in the sixth, Gerry Glasco made the decision to go to Chloe Riassetto. The lefty picked up her teammate, throwing two hitless innings to pick up the save and send Texas Tech to a Super Regional.
