Utah picks up commitment from four-star slugger Bree Carlson

Amy Hogue and her staff continue to make a name for themselves on the 2027 recruiting trail. Four-star corner infielder Bree Carlson, who was part of the PGF Championship Athletics Mercado Hovermale/Tidd team, committed to Utah on Friday.
“I chose the University of Utah because I could truly feel the heart and spirit of the program. The coaches’ passion, leadership, and belief in their players made me feel right at home, and the team’s unity and family atmosphere felt like a perfect continuation of the strong bond I’ve always had with Athletics Mercado. I know I’ll grow as a student, an athlete, and a person surrounded by people who bring out the best in me every day.”
Carlson is a strong, powerful corner with the ability to change a game with one swing. She is explosive from the lower half and has a highly repeatable swing through the zone. She can contribute exponentially to the RBI production in the middle of the lineup.
Carlson joins fellow four-star athletes Molly Davi and Marleigh McDonald.
