UPDATE: Ethan Pritchard joins FSU teammates for Legacy Walk before Virginia Tech game
Two and a half months after he was nearly killed by a gunshot wound to the head, Florida State freshman linebacker Ethan Pritchard joined his teammates for the Seminoles’ pregame Legacy Walk on Saturday afternoon.
With hundreds of fans cheering on each side, Pritchard arrived in a motorized wheelchair, while his father, Earl, carried the team’s hammer through the walk — that honor typically goes to the player who had the best week of practice.
Here is a short video of Pritchard’s appearance. It is the first time he has been back at a game since the shooting on Aug. 31.

Florida State freshman linebacker Ethan Pritchard, who was nearly killed when he sustained a gunshot wound to the head one day after the Alabama game, made an emotional return to the Seminoles’ practice fields Friday morning.
Pritchard was hospitalized for weeks following the shooting, which police say was a case of mistaken identity, and he later was moved to a rehabilitation facility in Jacksonville.
