Purdue football added an intriguing offensive weapon to its 2026 recruiting class today, landing Buford (Ga.) athlete/tight end Dream Rashad. Rashad’s decision comes on the heels of his official visit to West Lafayette last weekend.

The 6-6 Rashad made the move from quarterback to tight end this offseason, which is when schools started becoming interested in him as a prospect with his physical traits and athleticism. He chose the Boilermakers over offers from South Florida, Florida Atlantic, Miami (Ohio), UNLV, Marshall and others.

“They mostly showed me a lot of stuff that I would be doing in the passing game. Just the versatility that I’d be able to have. They said that I’d be a great versatile player, being able to block and them being able to use me in the pass game, to be able to use me as a tight end screen player if they needed to. So they just said they saw a lot of potential in me, kind of being that guy that does everything,” Rashad told Goldandblack after his weekend trip to Purdue.

Rashad also told Goldandblack that he could already envision himself in West Lafayette, which thrust the Boilermakers to “the top” of Rashad’s list of suitors after his official visit.

“It seemed like I could be there. I could be there and see myself there for the next few years,” Rashad said. “The whole coaching staff has kind of stayed together or they’ve known each other for a lot of years, in past coaching jobs and stuff like that. So they have the chemistry working together, and I think I’d be able to learn a lot from the staff.”

Rashad joins three-star tight end ArMari Towns as Purdue’s commitments at the position in the 2026 recruiting class. Rashad also becomes the 17th commitment of the 2026 cycle for the Boilermakers joining quarterback Corin Berry, wide receivers Brandon Kinsey Kymistrii Young, offensive linemen James Williams, Rico Schrieber, Terrell Berryhill and Brock Brownfield, defensive backs Emoni Smith, Raderrion Daniels and Dana Greenhow, running back Izaiah Wright, linebacker Brayden Sweeney and defensive linemen Josiah Hope, Aiden Solecki and Max Carmicle.
