Eagles announce Ryan Bartow as Assistant GM

Changes over at The Heights continued on Monday morning.

Around 11:00 a.m., the team announced Ryan Bartow is the new Assistant GM alongside new GM Kenyatta Watson.

This is a major move when it comes to recruiting.

Essentially, Bartow has two decades of experience in all aspects of recruiting – from travel arrangement to talent evaluation and everything in between – Bartow has done it for some elite schools.

Bartow started at Oregon in 2018 as Director of High School Relations, handling literally everything you can think of when it comes to recruiting. He has stops at Syracuse and Florida State where he was Director of High School Relations for both, overseeing all areas of recruiting.

Most recently, Bartow was Senior Director of Player Personnel at Sacramento State. He and the staff had the top-ranked FCS recruiting class for the class of 2026, and a top-100 class at either level. Perhaps his biggest claim to fame right now is his ability to navigate of the portal, as Sacramento State had On3’s top Transfer Portal class in FCS Football this season.

This continues to take a lot off of Bill O’Brien’s plate while also having another set of eyes and ears on potential incoming talent. It’ll be interesting to see how Bartow and Watson extend and continue to build relationships further locally, as talent seems to be getting better and better by the season, with other big time programs nationally taking notice. It’s not easy keeping the best talent ‘home’ now. The departure of Jim Mora at UConn helps, as O’Brien and his staff are still the most well-equipped to develop NFL talent in New England.

Bartow and Watson together have enough relationship building experience to work around any budget restraints they may still have at BC. The admissions thing will be interesting, will the school finally budge a little bit? It could be the difference between some really, really elite talent coming here and having to continue working in that second tier.

Either way, further commitment to the ever-changing recruiting landscape is another good sign.
