The early season honors continue to pile in for the Arkansas Razorbacks men’s basketball team.

Freshman guards Darius Acuff Jr. and Meleek Thomas have each been placed on national Player of the Year watch lists by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association.

They are two of 25 players on watch for the Wayman Tisdale Trophy, which goes annually to the men’s freshman national player of the year, while Acuff was also selected as on of 50 players to watch for the Oscar Robertson Trophy that is given to the men’s National Player of the Year.

Acuff has racked up accolades in his first collegiate season as one of 20 point guards to watch for the Bob Cousy Award, Dick Vitale’s Diaper Dandies, Andy Katz’s Top 10 NCAA Freshmen and a preseason Third Team All-SEC selection.

Acuff, Thomas and the 14th-ranked Hogs (1-0) travel north to take on the No. 22 Michigan State Spartans on Saturday with tipoff scheduled for 6 p.m. CT on FOX.
