Florida State Baseball selected as regional host for first round of NCAA Tournament

The Florida State baseball team will find out on Monday if it will be a Top 8 national seed for the NCAA Tournament.
On Sunday, the Seminoles found out they’ll be hosting a regional this weekend.
The NCAA revealed the 16 host sites for the upcoming national tournament Sunday evening, and for the second year in a row, Link Jarrett’s team has earned the right to play at Dick Howser Stadium for the first weekend.
The first game, against a yet-to-be-named opponent, will be on Friday.
Florida State (38-14) is coming off a 7-5 loss to North Carolina on Saturday in the semifinals of the ACC Tournament. The Tar Heels (42-12) also earned a spot in the Top 16 and will almost certainly be a Top 8 national seed when the full bracket is revealed on Monday at noon.
The Heels wound up beating Clemson on Sunday to win the conference championship. Clemson, too, earned a home regional for the first weekend of the tournament.

Florida State, North Carolina and Clemson were the only three ACC teams chosen as regional hosts.
Meanwhile, the SEC had eight (Georgia, Auburn, Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Texas, Arkansas, LSU and Ole Miss). Oregon State, Oregon, Southern Miss, Coastal Carolina and UCLA are the other sites selected for regional play this weekend.
The entire field will be revealed during the ESPN Selection Show on Monday at noon. Florida State, with an RPI of 14, is considered a long shot to be a Top 8 national seed. The SEC is expected to get as many as six of the eight spots.
Florida State fans are invited to Bowden’s in CollegeTown for the selection show and a special episode of Inside Seminole Baseball featuring FSU head coach Link Jarrett and players. Following the selection show at noon, Inside Seminole Baseball will be broadcast live from 1-2 p.m. at Bowden’s.
