Oklahoma Sooners quarterback John Mateer (10) rushes as Texas Longhorns defensive back Jaylon Guilbeau (3) and Texas Longhorns defensive back Michael Taaffe (16) defend in the first half of the Red River Rivalry college football game between the University of Oklahoma Sooners and the Texas Longhorn at the Cotton Bowl Stadium in Dallas, Texas, Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025.

The Week 9 slate of college football is the worst one all year, on paper. But, history shows that’s usually the week something truly insane happens. I’d be lying if knew what game will bring chaos, though. But that won’t stop me from trying. You’re here for what four games you should be watching at once on Saturday. Maybe one of them will prove to be special. So let’s get into it.

As always, we’re giving you the perfect guide to quad. The rules stay the same: no Longhorn overlap, four games in the same time window, and one timeframe where you fire up the Quad.

Name: Surprise Me Saturday
Time: 11-12:00 CST

  • Game 1: Ole Miss at Oklahoma (Sooners -5.5)
  • Game 2: Virginia at UNC (Cavs – 10.5)
  • Game 3: USF at Memphis (Bulls – 6.5)
  • Game 4: Syracuse at Georgia Tech (Yellow Jackets -16.5)

Notes: I had to pick the early games. Because if things go wrong in Starkville I’m going into the woods and never thinking about college football again. Plus, there are a few things that intrigue me about this window. Something has to give, right? No weekend is perfectly chalk.

First, the Sooner/Rebel line is fishy to me. Did the Rebels just empty the tank in their loss to Georgia last week? I guess their coach has been in a lot of conversations about real estate in central Florida this week. Will the Sooners offense continue to establish a run game which they found against South Carolina?

Sidenote: did Michael Taaffe get Dr. Shin’s number from John Mateer?

Additionally, Virginia has overachieved this season and is firmly in the playoff picture. But they need to be axed. If there was ever a time for the pre-Jordon Hudson Bill Belichick to crawl out from wherever he’s been hiding! Lastly, USF and Memphis will be a great game which will have ramifications on what G5 team gets into the CFP at year’s end. Syracuse, go ahead and turn Georgia Tech into a pumpkin, please.
