Talons 6, Bandits 3

Tori Vidales opened the scoring in the first inning, driving in the game’s first run on a groundout. Lexi Kilfoyl got the nod for the Bandits in the circle, tossing two innings of one-run ball.

Meanwhile, Montana Fouts started her first game back from injury today for the Talons, twirling three innings and allowing just two runs in the third. The Bandits grabbed the lead in the top half, courtesy of Skylar Wallace’s two-run home run. However, the Talons responded quickly off Bandits reliever Odicci Alexander, scoring four runs. Caroline Jacobsen knocked an RBI single and Ali Aguilar doubled to put the Talons up 5-2.

Then, the Talons added a sixth run in the fourth, following the Bandits’ second pitching change. Jacobsen laced a single, then Vidales trotted home on a fielding error to put the Talons up 6-2.

Raelin Chaffin was stellar in relief. The rookie twirled four innings and surrendered only one run. Cori McMillan hit an RBI double in the seventh, but Chaffin finished her outing with a win in the circle.

Blaze 10, Volts 2

The Blaze trounced the Volts 10-2 on Sunday. Rookie Ana Gold put the Blaze on the board in the second inning with a solo shot. It wasn’t until the fourth inning that the Volts responded with an RBI fielder’s choice from Dejah Mulipola.

Tied at 1-1, the Blaze scored nine straight runs in the final three frames. Devyn Netz homered in the fifth inning, grabbing the lead for the Blaze. In the sixth, the Blaze tacked on five more runs. Baylee Klingler doubled in a run, and Gold drove in her second run of the game. Then, a fielding error and McKenzie Clark’s two-run homer padded the Blaze lead to 7-1 after six innings.

Entering the seventh, Gold added two more RBIs to her day, singling in two more runs. Additionally, a fielder’s choice from Netz added the Blaze’s tenth run of the game. Mulipola was responsible for both of the Volts’ runs, homering in the seventh. Unfortunately for the Volts, Mulipola’s efforts were outnumbered, falling 10-2 to the Blaze.

For the Blaze, Alana Vawter, Keilani Ricketts and Emma Lemley limited the Volts to just three hits in the win.
