Texas gains commitment from former five-star Sophia Bordi
Texas made an addition to its pitching staff on Tuesday. Former five-star recruit Sophia Bordi announced her commitment to the Longhorns after entering the transfer portal in December.
Bordi early enrolled at Oklahoma and redshirted this past season, having originally been a top-10 player in the 2025 class. Oklahoma head coach Patty Gasso announced last May that Bordi had left the team midway through the season. Gasso referred to it as a “personal situation” at the time.
She gets a fresh start in Austin, entering what should’ve been her true freshman season anyway. Bordi, as a winter window transfer, will have to sit out this spring. Texas is expected to graduate Citlaly Gutierrez, but Bordi now projects to be a part of a pitching staff that will include Teagan Kavan, Cambria Salmon, Brenlee Gonzales, Hannah Wells and incoming freshman Madi Doty for the 2027 season.
