KSR Today: A Tuesday Without Kentucky Basketball

Kentucky fans get into a nice rhythm throughout the college basketball season. The Wildcats typically play on Saturdays, with a relatively quick turnaround on Tuesday nights. Right when the Wildcats were getting on a Tuesday-Saturday roll, the SEC threw a bump in the road.
Instead of keeping that momentum from the Tennessee win moving forward, the BBN has to wait one more day to watch the Wildcats go on the road to take on Texas A&M. It’s a bigger buzzkill than Buzz Killington. Fresh off three days of high octane, NFL playoff football, we’re now starved for sports on objectively the worst day of the week. Tuesday’s only redeeming quality is the excuse it provides to eat tacos.
Tuesdays stink, but in the winter we typically get treated to Kentucky basketball, just not tonight. There are still a few other things on the docket as the BBN waits another day for Kentucky basketball.
Tuesday with Bruiser
Before the Wildcats hit the road to College Station, we’ll have the opportunity to hear from Bruiser Flint and a Wildcat player. The UK assistant is a laughing, bundle of joy on Zoom, however, there won’t be too many laughs when discussing what Buzz Williams brings to the table. The Aggies are the real deal this year, 15-2 and unbeaten in SEC play so far.
Hoophall Comes to a Close
Jack and Zack have spent the weekend crushing it, pumping out a ton of posts after watching prospective Wildcats and speaking with talented recruits. A snap-shot of what you may have missed before they had back to the Bluegrass.
- 5-star SG Ian Jackson in contact with Kentucky — his “dream school”
- 2024 PF Derik Queen establishing himself early on in recruiting process
- Mackenzie Mgbako updates recruitment, relationship with Kentucky

One Bizarre Tuesday Football Recruiting Update
Not every single update from Springfield was about basketball recruits. Zack Geoghegan caught up with Lebbeus Overton, considered by many as top-ranked football player in America. The defensive lineman’s mother played volleyball at UK and last fall he attended a game at Kroger Field. Now, they’re wondering why communication has cooled with the Cats.
The conversation is mind-boggling. The top-ranked football player in America wants UK to recruit him harder? If the best football player in the country wants attention from Kentucky, he should be getting all of it and then some, right? Well, it’s not that simple.

He has a connection to Kentucky, but he also has connections to Texas A&M and Alabama, schools his parents previously worked at. He also plays football in the Atlanta metro, right in the middle of the defending National Champs’ turf. Kentucky’s coaching staff cannot stand Georgia, particularly for their behavior on the recruiting trail. In a cost-benefit analysis, maybe they saw this as a mountain too high to climb. Maybe the top five player simply has a different perspective on how much they should hear from prospective schools. Either way, I’m certain that some phone calls were made from Lexington shortly after Zack pressed publish.

NFL Divisional Round Set
Liam Coen’s former employer made Kliff Kingsbury look like an idiot that couldn’t put together a winning team in the Big 12. The Rams put it on the Cardinals in a beatdown that was so epic, the most memorable moment happened when the Rock showed up with a dinosaur skull in his office.
The final eight teams remaining are the best the NFL has to offer. The schedule and spreads are set for an epic divisional round are here.
