Ryan Wingo's performance through three games
The elite freshman receiver isn’t getting the national attention of fellow freshmen phenoms like Alabama’s Ryan Williams (did you know he’s only 17!?) or Ohio State’s consensus #1 national recruit Jeremiah Smith, but Wingo has been very impactful. Part of the lack of hype is that Texas has many high level receiving options to share the shine and some quarterbacks who garner a fair amount of media attention in their own right.

So what has Wingo done? Through three games, the 6-2, 210 pound pass catcher has been the most explosive offensive player on the team.
7 catches for 197 yards and a touchdown. 28 yards per catch will work from your big deep threat. He also had the 55 yard run against Michigan.

Through three games, the total tally is 8 touches for 252 yards (84 yards from scrimmage per game, 31.5 yards per touch) with plays of 75 (vs. UTSA), 55 (vs. Michigan) and 30 (vs. Colorado State). Take away his three explosives and he still averages 18.4 yards per touch.
If you’re an Inside Texas reader, none of this should really surprise you given the site’s analysis of him as a recruit and the extensive off the field intel provided when he arrived, but that doesn’t make the confirmation of the rumors any less enjoyable.
