Jackets ramble into top 10 in both major polls at No. 7

After a 27-18 victory at Duke on Saturday and several other losses by teams ranked above them, Georgia Tech (7-0, 4-0 ACC) jumped into the top 10 in both major top 25 polls released on Sunday.
The Jackets were No. 7 in the Coaches Poll released around noon on Sunday, and they were later placed at No. 7 in the Associated Press Top 25 as well released around 2 p.m.
The No. 7 ranking is the highest for Georgia Tech since being No. 7 in the Coaches Poll (and No. 8 in the AP) following the 2014 season and the Orange Bowl victory over Mississippi State. It is the highest regular-season ranking for the team since being No. 7 in both the Coaches and AP in Week 12 of the 2009 season.
Head coach Brent Key and his Jackets overcame a slow start on Saturday at Duke and a 7-7 score at the half to outlast and eventually pull away from the Blue Devils for a 27-18 win and push Tech to 7-0 for the first time since the 1966 season.
Next up for Georgia Tech is Syracuse (3-4, 1-3 ACC) this coming Saturday as the Jackets welcome the Orange to The Flats for a noon kickoff on Homecoming Weekend.
