Predicting the Pac: Week Eight
Last week I had a pretty good week. I nailed all four predictions to move my record to 36-12 on the season. Not only did I nail the picks, my prediction of the games was nearly spot on as well.
But no need to pat myself on the back. I’ll just keep trying to up my season record with more correct picks. Of course we have a monster game in Salt Lake City this week. But there are some other intriguing games on tap as well.
Let’s look at the schedule and games in the conference of champions this week.
Oregon @ Utah
12:30 – Fox
If you missed my earlier post, I predicted Oregon to win this game 34-27. Not a huge margin. But the Utes are tough, really tough at home and the crowd will be a factor. This is the fork in the road for Oregon’s 2023 season.
USC @ Cal
1:00 – Pac-12
Can Cal catch USC on the rebound here? The Trojans are struggling to get things rolling and so far Lincoln Riley has been away from the team sick. This is one of those games that will tell us where USC is at mentally as a team. This will be close but even a bad Cal team can’t beat SC. I think.
Washington @ Stanford
4:00 – FS1
ASU caught Washington last week with some hangover. It won’t happen again this week. UW rolls Stanford by 40+.

Colorado @ UCLA
4:30 – ABC
I’m not sure which of these teams will show up. If Chip keeps Dante on the bench I think the Bruins might beat Colorado by 14+. I’m betting that will be the case and Colorado takes another L.
Wazzu @ ASU
5:00 – Pac-12
Maybe one of the more intriguing games this weekend in the conference. ASU has become a pesky team although the wins aren’t quite there for Dilly. Wazzu should win this one but I expect it’s just a bit closer than it should be.
Oregon State @ Arizona
7:30 – ESPN
This is vintage Pac-12 after dark. These two teams. In Tucson. On ESPN. This one will get weird. Fisch better start Fifita and if he does I’m picking Zona. If he doesn’t, I’m going with OSU.
