Inside Texas reported on January 5 that Mitchell was expected to skip his senior season and enter the draft.

Mitchell had four catches for 32 yards and one touchdown in the Sugar Bowl versus Washington, the fifth touchdown in his five-game College Football Playoff career split between Texas and Georgia. After two years and two national championships with the Bulldogs, Mitchell transferred to Texas ahead of the 2023 season in order to be closer to home and to his daughter.

He lead the Longhorns in touchdown receptions with 11, and was second on the team in receptions and yards behind Xavier Worthy. Mitchell tallied 55 catches and 845 yards, both career bests. Mitchell was also named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year and a second-team All-Big 12 selection.

Prior to transferring to Texas, Mitchell spent two seasons with the Georgia Bulldogs. He posted 38 catches for 560 yards and seven scores for UGA, with four of those touchdowns coming during the Dawgs’ four College Football Playoff games during their back-to-back championship runs. In 2022, he had nine catches for 134 yards and three scores during an injury plagued season, returning near the end of the year to help UGA to its second title in as many years.

During his freshman season in 2021, he hauled in 29 passes for 426 yards and four touchdowns.

Originally a member of the 2021 class, Mitchell was the No. 302 overall prospect, the No. 45 wide receiver, and the No. 8 prospect in Tennessee where he graduated from Cane Ridge High School.
