2026 Iowa Baseball Schedule Announced

The 2026 Iowa Baseball schedule is here. A 53-game slate that starts in Phoenix and ends in Des Moines, the Hawkeyes path to their first NCAA Regional since the ’22 season is set. Last year, Iowa finished with a 33-23-1 record and fell short of the postseason for the second consecutive season.

Notes and Thoughts

  • The Hawkeyes open the 2026 campaign with the MLB Desert Invitational in Phoenix (Feb 13-15). Opponents are TBA, but Vanderbilt, UC Irvine, Grand Canyon, Nebraska and others were in the field last season. Expect the opening weekend to have a quality game or two. Kansas State has announced they are a part of the 8-team field.
  • For the second time, Iowa will compete in the Frisco Classic, set to face Alabama, Houston and Oregon State this time around. The Crimson Tide (41-18) and Oregon State (48-16-1) were both regional teams last season.
  • The Hawkeyes home opener is set for February 24th against DIII Wartburg College. Iowa has successfully played a February home game in two of the last three seasons. They are 22-2 all-time against the Knights but haven’t played them since 1987.
  • With the expanded Big Ten schedule and two tournament weekends, the Hawkeyes will play just two three-game non-conference series, traveling to Florida Atlantic (Feb 20-22) and hosting Lindenwood (March 7-9). FAU went 37-21 a year ago, while Lindenwood finished with a 27-30 record.
  • A lengthy road trip in mid-March, Iowa will play eight straight on the road, traveling from State College (PSU) to Chicago (UIC) to East Lansing (MSU) to Peoria (ISU). They will go 18 days between home games.
  • The Hawkeyes home Big Ten slate comes against teams that finished last season with a combined 159-122 record, led by UCLA (48-18). The Bruins made the College World Series and will visit Duane Banks Field in March.
  • For the third consecutive season, Iowa will play a three-game series at Principal Park in Des Moines. This time, they’ll host Purdue (May 14-16) after hosting non-conference opponents Florida International (’23) and Oregon State (’24) the past two years.
  • The Hawkeyes away Big Ten slate comes against teams that finished last season with a combined 163-126 record, led by USC (37-23) and Nebraska (33-29). The Trojans made an NCAA Regional for the first time since 2015, while the Huskers won the Big Ten Tournament for the second consecutive season.
